8mm Toughened Glass by Elite Safety Glass
It is processed by heating 8mm clear float glass, 8mm low iron glass, 8mm reflective glass, 8mm patterned glass, or 8mm Low-e glass to 650 degrees softening point, and then quenched rapidly. It creates tension inside the glass and compression outside the glass surface.
Heating Time
8mm clear/low iron tempered glass in Radiant furnace: 39s/mm, total 310 seconds~320 seconds
8mm clear/low iron toughened glass in Forced Convection furnace: 28s/mm, 220 seconds~230 seconds
8mm tinted/colored tempered glass in Radiant furnace: 36s/mm, 282 seconds~290 seconds
8mm tinted/colored toughened glass in Forced Convection furnace: 28s/mm, 220 seconds~230 seconds
Quenching Time
8mm toughened glass Quench Time = Glass Thickness^1.8=8mm^1.8=42s
Compression & Tension Zone
21% (1.68mm) up & down part with compression, 58% (4.64mm) middle part with tension.
Surface compression >90Mpa (over 13000Psi).
