What is an insulated glass unit?

Insulated glass unit, also known as IGU, insulated glass,  insulated glass panels, insulating glass panels, double glazing, double glazed, double glazed units, DGU, double pane glass, sealed glass unit, etc.

It is made by combine two or more glass together, inter-layered by a spacer around the glass edge. Inside can be filled with air or other inert gases. Outside the glasses are sealed by structural silicone or polysulfide sealant, to achieve water airtightness and air airtightness effect.

IGU Features & Benefits

Energy-saving: with high-performance triple silver Low-E, the heat transfer U value lowered to 0.55w/m2.k.

Cost-saving: the greater attenuation of heating & cooling costs, with the lower U value by insulated glass units.

Solar control: solar shading coefficients varies from 0.20~0.80 when combined with different glass.

Noise-proof: with a spacer between the glasses, a cavity is created to reduce noise to a big extent.

FAQ

1. What kind of shapes of Insulated glass do we get in order?

Almost all shapes are available. The glass is cut by an automatic glass cutting line which is controlled by a computer.

2. What is overall thicknesses are available?

Online process 12mm~80mm. Manual process: theoretically no limit.

3. What is the warranty you provide for the insulated glass unit?

10 years, since the date of manufacturing.

4. What should we consider when choosing a suitable Low-E glass?

U value or heat transfer: U value of single silver Low-E, double silver Low-E, triple silver Low-E are 1.7~1.9w/m2.k, 1.4~1.6w/m2.k and 1.0~1.2w/m2.k respectively under ASHRAE standard.

Visible light transmission: it varies from 0.23~0.80.

SHGC value or G value: it varies from 0.20~70.

5. Which side does Low-e facing when installing?

2nd face from the outside: when cooling needs exceed heating needs.

3rd face from the outside: when heating needs exceed cooling needs.

6. What kind of safety stamp I can choose?

We can print any stamp on the glass corner.

However, the stamp has to be with the manufacturer’s certificate number in order to trace the glass.
